# Introduction

## Scope

The Observer application is a container including the following tools for
tracing and investigation of distributed systems:

- Observer
- Trace Tool Builder
- Erlang Top
- Crashdump Viewer

## Prerequisites

It is assumed that the reader is familiar with the Erlang programming language.
